TSA checkpoint firearm detections in Georgia trend upward in 2023

Release: ATLANTA - Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at Georgia airports discovered a total of 226 firearms in travelers carry-on luggage in the first half of 2023, an increase of eight statewide over the same time period last year. Each of the firearms was discovered by TSA officers during the routine screening of carry-on property at airport security checkpoints.

Release: CHARLOTTE - Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at North Carolina airports discovered a total of 130 firearms in travelers carry-on luggage in the first half of 2023, a small increase statewide over the same time period last year. Each of the firearms was discovered by TSA officers during the routine screening of carry-on property at airport security checkpoints.

FEMA and SiriusXM Expand Relationship to Enhance Delivery of Emergency Alerts

News Release: WASHINGTON -- FEMA and SiriusXM today announced an expansion of their relationship that will enhance connectivity of FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS), National Public Warning System. As part of the new program, SiriusXM will give FEMA access to secure bandwidth on SiriusXM’s proprietary satellite radio system to provide additional connectivity between FEMA and the National Public Warning System (NPWS) network.

Release: MILWAUKEE Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers stopped 18 handguns at Wisconsin airport security checkpoints from Jan. 1 through June 30, 2023. In the same period in 2022, 12 firearms were stopped.
