The following local press release was published by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration on Aug. 23. It is reproduced in full below.

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hosting a hiring event Tuesday, Aug. 29 and Wednesday, Aug. 30 to assist individuals interested in applying for a job as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) at John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) and Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK).

The hiring event will take place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Embassy Suites by Hilton Columbus-Dublin, 5100 Upper Metro Place, Dublin, Ohio 43017.

Attendees will receive information about TSO positions and have the opportunity to complete multiple steps of the hiring process. The event includes a presentation about the TSO role, application assistance, completion of computer-based testing, and interviews for job seekers. Participants will be able to complete all or part of these processes, which will significantly reduce the time required to get on board with TSA.

As part of the presentation sessions during the event, TSA will provide an overview of working for the federal government and discuss benefits, which include paid leave, health care plans, 401k coverage and more.

Starting pay at the two airports is $20.45 per hour. TSA is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 to eligible new hires at CMH $2,500 after onboarding and an additional $2,500 after one year of service, with service agreement. This initiative applies to TSO new hires that onboard through Sept. 30, 2023. After two years of service, the salary increases to $28.49 per hour ($59,456 annually for full-time positions).

TSA seeks those who want to take the initial step into a rewarding federal career and support TSAs critical mission of protecting our nations transportation systems. For more information, visit https://jobs.tsa.gov/events/08-29/columbus-tso-recruiting-event.
