Guam Homeland Security Office of Civil Defense, FEMA and the Village of Mangilao, will close the Disaster Recovery Center at Guam Community College, but help is still available.

The following Disaster Recovery Center will cease operations at the close of business Aug 16, 2023.

* Guam Community College: 1 Sesame St., Building E, Mangilao, 96913

DRC Hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Closed Sunday

Disaster Recovery Centers are barrier-free and provide equal access to all visitors. If you use American Sign Language or assistive technology, and if you need accommodations to communicate, please notify FEMA staff at the center immediately.

Even though the Disaster Recovery Center is closing, help is still available. Survivors whose homes were damaged by the Typhoon Mawar can still get updates about applications, learn about the appeals process or check the status of their claim the following ways:

* Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362;

* Log into their account at DisasterAssistance.gov; or

* Use the FEMA Mobile App

If you haven’t applied for federal disaster assistance yet, please do so at disasterassistance.gov, by using the FEMA mobile app, by calling 800-621-3362 (The Helpline is available 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week at no cost for Guam residents).

Following the closure of this center, the location will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Center to meet the needs of businesses and individuals who were affected by Typhoon Mawar. The loan outreach center will open Thursday, Aug. 17, at Guam Community College, 1 Sesame Street, Building E-Room 100, Mangilao, GU 96913 Hours of operation will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

SBA customer service representatives will be on hand at the center to answer questions about SBA’s disaster loan program, explain the application process and help individuals complete their electronic loan application. No appointment is necessary. Although the deadline for property damage has passed, the deadline to apply for economic injury is Feb. 28, 2024.

Applicants for SBA low-interest disaster loans may also apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at disasterloanassistance.sba.gov. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance. For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services. Completed applications should be mailed to U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
