WASHINGTON - Today, House Appropriations Chairwoman Kay Granger released the following statement after Rep. Chris Stewart (UT) announced his planned resignation from the U.S. House of Representatives.

“I will miss serving with Rep. Chris Stewart, who has announced he is resigning from the Congress. He has been a valuable Member of the Appropriations Committee, and I have enjoyed working with him through the years.

“Chris, with the support of his family, has selflessly served the people of Utah for over a decade. As a veteran and former small business CEO, he has been a crucial voice on issues concerning our national security, economy, energy, and federal lands. He’s made a significant impact on the work of the Appropriations Committee, and I am proud of our work together on behalf of the American people. The Committee, alongside Utah’s Second Congressional District, is grateful for his leadership and service to our country.

“I send my best wishes to Chris, Evie, and their family in this next chapter."
