Check out the Coast Guard’s top photos, videos, and articles of 2022
You all showed up for the 2022 Chief Journalist (JOC) Alex Haley awards (link: https://www.mycg.uscg.mil/News/Article/3246320/your-photos-and-videos-could-earn-you-awards/), making for stiff competition and difficult judging! The awards recognize both public affairs specialists and other individual Coast Guard members for their roles as educators, capturing the people and missions of Coast Guard activities through their cameras, content, and collaborations.
Among the 2022 award submissions were photos, videos, and stories from everyday Coast Guard men and women across the globe including enlisted, officer, reserve, civilian, and auxiliary; representing everything from aids to navigation to community relations and everywhere from the Gulf of Oman to Guam to the North Pole!
Here is just a sampling of the winning products from the non-public affairs specialist group.
Many of you are giving our uber-talented public affairs specialists a run for their money, and we’re here for it! The full winner’s list with links is below.
Think you can top these submissions for the 2023 awards? If you’re up for the challenge, link up with your servicing public affairs office each time you create something awesome and ask them to help you upload your masterpiece to the Defense Visual Information Distribution System, otherwise known as DVIDS. Better yet, connect with them ahead of time and ask what types of photos, videos, or stories you can produce at your unit to help with the Coast Guard’s communication goals (look at you being strategic!). Your creations may be used in news stories, official social media posts, or other products to earn you clout throughout the year. Then when the 2023 awards come around at the end of the year, you’ll be ahead of the game and ready to easily submit for the competition and crush your peers. We look forward to seeing tons of incredible submissions next year!
All that said, please join us in congratulating all the 2022 JOC Alex Haley Award winners for the excellent work they produced throughout the year:
