The following press release was published by the U.S. Secret Service on July 22, 2022. It is reproduced in full below.

I am firmly reiterating the commitment of the United States Secret Service in supporting the extraordinary efforts of the January 6thSelect Committee. As an American and Director of this incredible agency, I found the events at the Capitol on January 6th to be abhorrent. What happened on that day in January 2021 is anathema todemocracy and the processes our constitutionguarantees.Since day one, I have directed our personnel to cooperate fully and completely with the Committee and we are currently finalizing dates and times for our personnel tomake themselves available to the Committeefor follow up inquiries.

We have provided thousands of documents, operationally sensitive radio transmissions and access to Secret Service employees. We will continue to cooperate fully with the Committeeand any other investigative body and remain committed to helping ensurethatanother such lawless and violent assault on our Constitutional processnever takes place again.

As I reflect on that day, I am struck by the courage, perseverance, and resolve of so very many of our Special Agents, Uniformed Division Officers, and mission support personnel as they not only were steadfast in executing the Secret Service mission, but also so bravely assisted our brothers and sisters in the Metropolitan Washington and United States Capitol Police Departments.

Our agency performed above and beyond, to the highest of standards, and I could not be prouder of the men and women of the Secret Service for their actions on that dark day.

The men and women of the United States Secret Service are worthy of trust and confidence, because of what they accomplish every day - most of which can never be told. For 157 years, this agency has been dedicated to upholding and defending the Constitution and defined by its commitment to the mission, and most of all, our exceptional people.
