BANGOR, Maine:A Presque Isle woman was sentenced today in federal court for passing counterfeit money, U.S. Attorney Darcie N. McElwee announced.
U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker sentencedJessica Jones, 31, to two months in prison and two years of supervised release. Jones pleaded guilty on Aug. 25, 2021.
According to court records, on July 23, 2018, Jones used counterfeit $20 bills at a Dominos Pizza and a McDonalds in Presque Isle.Jones later stated that she had received the counterfeit money from an individual whowas trading counterfeit bills for drugs.
The Presque Isle Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service investigated the case.
