The following press release was published by the U.S. Secret Service on Nov. 2, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

I want to take the opportunity to thank the hard-working men and women of the United States Secret Service, they are the true un-sung heroes, said Director Alles at the ceremony.

The Federal Law Enforcement Foundation was established in 1988 by a group of concerned business leaders who recognized that, despite the immeasurable impact contribution law enforcement officer make, the economic protection they receive is often inadequate in the face of disaster. The foundation provides financial assistance to the families of officer and agents killed in the line of duty.

Previous recipients of the award include President William Clinton, Vice President Richard Cheney, Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Mike Pompeo, and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
