(Washington, D.C) The U.S. Secret Service has announced Kelli Lewis as the agencys new Laboratory Director of the Forensic Services Division, a division of the Office of Investigations. Ms. Lewis brings 13 years of practical application and leadership experience to the Secret Service.
In her new role, she will be responsible for the administration and oversight of all forensic science activities for the Secret Service, including questioned document analysis; fingerprint analysis; instrumental and chemical analyses; false identification; credit cards; and other related forensic science areas. In addition to the headquarters divisional management responsibilities, Lewis will also oversee the agencys 162 domestic and foreign field office evidence accountability and storage programs.
"Ms. Lewis has the technical expertise, coupled with the business acumen and leadership experience to ensure our analytical processes and critical evidence procedures remaining cutting edge and above reproach," said Kenneth Jenkins Assistant Director, Office of Investigations.
Lewis previously held the position of Branch Chief of Quality Assurance, Evidence, and Scientific Services in the Forensic Services Division and worked as Director of Casework with Bode Cellmark Forensics, a private DNA laboratory in Lorton, VA. Lewis was additionally recognized in March of this year for her role in a groundbreaking counterfeit currency cataloguing project where she received the 2018 Secret Service Directors Impact Award.
Lewis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Oregon State University and a Master of Forensic Sciences with a concentration in Forensic Molecular Biology from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
