Washington, D.C.) Deputy Director Craig Magaw, a veteran of more than 30 years with the United States Secret Service, will retire effective Nov. 30, 2016.
Craig Magaws unwavering commitment to the men and women of the Secret Service is simply without parallel, said U.S. Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy. Personally, I will be eternally grateful to him for the guidance, counsel and leadership that he has provided during one of the most operationally demanding times in this agencys history.
As Deputy Director, Mr. Magaw executed oversight of the agencys daily operations, including its more than 6,500 personnel and $1.9 billion budget. He also developed and implemented policies integral to the agencys integrated mission of protection and investigations.
For more than three decades, I have been privileged to work with the men and women of the U.S. Secret Service. The Secret Service is an agency unlike any other and has proven to be deserving of its fine reputation for providing protection to world leaders and carrying out highly complex financial crimes investigations, Mr. Magaw said. I am truly honored to have been a part of the rich tradition and history of this great agency.
Mr. Magaws distinguished career began in 1986 and included protective and investigative assignments in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida and Washington, D.C. The Columbus, Ohio, native received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland and a Masters Degree in Management from Johns Hopkins University.
Mr. Magaw will transition to a new career in the private sector.
