(Washington, D.C.) Following the successful launch of a new recruiting website, the

U.S. Secret Service will launch its official Twitter page

on Monday, May 9, 2011.

The internet is a valuable resource for people all over the world, said Secret Service

Assistant Director Mickey Nelson. By using social media sites, we hope to supplement

our recruitment efforts, while providing an informative, helpful tool to businesses and

individuals who are interested in information from our agency.

The @SecretService Twitter account will be used to highlight the Secret Services

investigative mission, share press releases from the Secret Service and the Department of

Homeland Security, distribute information to local communities hosting National Special

Security Events, explore Secret Service history and promote upcoming recruitment

opportunities.
