Federal agents, National Hellenic Museum conduct largest repatriation of ancient coins to Greece in recent HSI history
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Chicago, alongside distinguished representatives from Greece and the National Hellenic Museum, conducted a repatriation ceremony on June 16 to return to Greece the largest number of stolen ancient coins seized by U.S. law enforcement officials in recent HSI history. The artifacts included 51 ancient Greek coins that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intercepted via four separate examinations of merchandise entering the United States.

A joint investigation involving Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Baltimore landed a Salvadoran national 26 years in federal prison for his role in a racketeering conspiracy that included murder, drug distribution and firearms charges. Jose Lopez-Rivera, 27, of Elmont, New York, received the lengthy prison sentence May 31 at the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland in Baltimore.

HSI Sells case sends human smuggling ringleader to prison for 96 months
During the first full week of June, a federal judge sentenced a Mexican national to 96 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for his management role in a criminal conspiracy to harbor and transport thousands of undocumented noncitizens. Manuel Ochoa-Vasquez, 39, of Paso Hondo, Mexico, pleaded guilty on Dec. 15, 2022, to conspiracy to transport illegal aliens for profit and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
